How to Transfer WhatsApp Chat History on Android or iOS Using QR Code

Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, recently introduced a new feature that makes it easier for users to transfer their chat history from one phone to another. This feature eliminates the need for backups or cloud services. Both Android and iOS users can now transfer their chat history, including media attachments, between devices running the same operating system.

Previously, WhatsApp offered options for transferring chat history, but they required either backing up the chats to storage or uploading them to the cloud. However, with the new chat transfer feature using QR codes, users can now seamlessly transfer their chat information, such as messages, media files, documents, links, and videos.

It's important to note that certain details, such as peer-to-peer payment messages and call history, cannot be transferred using this method.

To initiate the chat transfer via QR code on Android, users need to ensure that both their old and new phones have Android OS Lollipop 5.1 or Android 6 or above installed. The new phone should not be registered on WhatsApp until the transfer process is initiated. Both devices should have Wi-Fi enabled and be connected to the same network.

For iOS users, both the old and new iPhones should have WhatsApp for iOS version 2.23.9.77 or above installed to perform the chat transfer.

These new features aim to provide a more convenient and efficient way for users to transfer their WhatsApp chat history when switching to a new device.

Here's how you can transfer your WhatsApp chat history on Android and iOS phones:
