Anticipated for an October release this year, Google is poised to unveil its Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. Notable enhancements are expected in the camera capabilities of this duo in comparison to their predecessors, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, from the previous year. Beyond hardware improvements, credible reports suggest that the technology giant will introduce a reimagined camera user interface (UI) with the imminent Pixel models. Recent leaks provide insight into this overhauled interface.

Central to the redesign is the introduction of a clear demarcation between the Photo and Video modes within the camera UI. Further refinement is observed in the alteration of the positions of the camera switch and gallery button elements, constituting an integral aspect of the UI overhaul.

According to disclosures by Android Authority, they have disseminated screenshots purportedly portraying the novel Google Camera UI redesign designated for employment with the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The depicted design exhibits a contemporary visual appeal, underscored by an innovative interface that distinctly segregates the photo and video modes. Facilitating mode transition, a dedicated toggle is now discretely positioned underneath the mode selection bar to seamlessly alternate between the aforementioned modes.

An additional noteworthy modification pertains to the realignment of the camera switch button and the gallery preview button. These buttons, which have been repositioned, now occupy positions opposite to their prior placements. Furthermore, it is observable from the provided visual assets that the settings dialog box will be activated via a bottom-up swipe gesture. Concomitant with this alteration, a novel settings icon positioned at the bottom left corner of the UI affords users the capacity to access the settings menu. This represents a departure from the current Google Camera iteration, where users are mandated to execute a downward swipe on the viewfinder to gain entry to the settings menu.

Google Camera app designed for the upcoming Pixel 8 series, there are some interesting changes worth noting. They've restructured the "Motion" tab that was present in previous versions. Now, it's split into two separate tabs: "Long Exposure" and "Action Pan". This change aims to make these modes more visible and easier to access. It's a departure from the way these modes were grouped together under the "Motion" tab in the current Pixel 7 phones.

Another noticeable tweak is with the "Cinematic Pan" mode. Instead of being tucked within a larger category, it now has its own distinct option labeled as "Pan".

Additionally, they've made a user interface change regarding stabilization modes. In the previous version, you'd find a menu with different stabilization options like "Standard", "Locked", and "Active". However, in this updated version, they've opted for a cleaner look with these options now presented in a popup menu.

Zooming out a bit, the highly anticipated Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones are expected to be officially unveiled in October of this year. Running on the Android 14 operating system, they're set to provide users with a smooth experience courtesy of their 120Hz refresh rate displays. Excitingly, rumors suggest these phones will be powered by the Tensor G3 chip, representing a significant step forward from the Tensor G2 SoC found in the previous Pixel 7 series and Pixel Fold!
