GTA 6 trailer 1 – Watch it here

Woah! The GTA 6 reveal trailer is finally here and it's totally awesome! Rockstar had initially planned to release the trailer on December 5th, but it got leaked, so they dropped it early. If you haven't already, check out the trailer above - it shows off Vice City's return and the new dual protagonists.

GTA 6 release date: All eyes on 2025

Gta 6 release date

Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will be out in 2025. The reveal trailer mentioned that it'll be released sometime that year, but there's no more specific info out there. Before the trailer, people were already making some guesses about when it would be out. A lot of sources agreed that it'd be in 2025 and that it'd be set in a modern-day Vice City. Take-Two, Rockstar's parent company, keeps suggesting that the game will be out by March 2025, and their CEO says they're expecting record-breaking performance in the same year. Everyone's assuming that's when GTA 6 will come out.

GTA 6 platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X/S confirmed

It's been verified that GTA 6 will be hitting the shelves for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2025. Take Two let us all know in an official announcement, which stated that GTA 6 will be launching on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. As of now, there has been no word of a PC version, potentially making it similar to the other GTA games that were released for consoles first, then PC afterwards.

Will GTA 6 be on PS4 and Xbox One?

It looks like when GTA 6 is released in 2025, it'll only be available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, so those of us with PS4 or Xbox One will have to upgrade if we want to play it - no current-gen backward compatibility for this one.

Why is GTA 6 taking so long?

A lot of you have been asking why GTA 6 is taking forever to come out. It totally makes sense though - GTA 5 and GTA Online were so popular, plus the size of Red Dead Redemption 2 is pretty huge. Rockstar said as much when they announced GTA 6 was in the works. They even said something about GTA 5's "unprecedented longevity" - it's been out for nine years and gets regular updates.

GTA 6 characters: Introducing Lucia

Lucia character

At the trailer, we were introduced to the main characters of GTA 6, with Lucia being the first female lead. We don't know much about her yet, but we can tell from her prison outfit that she's had run-ins with the law. We also saw her with a mysterious male character who looks set to play a major part in the game - people have been calling him Jason or James, but we don't know his name for sure. It looks like they have a kind of 'Bonnie and Clyde' dynamic going on, and they talk about trusting each other as they get involved in some shady activities.

GTA 6 location: We're heading back to Vice City

Gta 6

We're heading back to Vice City in GTA 6! Rockstar announced that the new game, set in 2025, will take place in the state of Leonida, which is home to the iconic neon-soaked streets. It's said to be the biggest version of Grand Theft Auto yet, and the trailer has shown us a modern update of the classic location. We can spot some familiar spots like Starfish Island, and we're all hoping we can visit old favourites like the Malibu Club and Ocean View Hotel. The trailer looks so realistic that fans are already comparing it to the original Vice City, which proves just how incredibly detailed it is.

GTA 6 announcement: When was GTA 6 confirmed?

In February 2022, Rockstar Games let slip that GTA 6 was already in the works with the news that the game is "well underway" in a GTA 5 and GTA Online Community Update. Rockstar promised that they're "thankful for the support" and "can't wait to step into the future" with everybody. A few months later in August 2022, Take-Two Interactive backed up this news in their financial results report that GTA 6 was indeed in "active development". Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick even commented on the upcoming game, saying that Rockstar Games is determined to make GTA 6 the best in the series, setting new benchmarks for the industry and entertainment as a whole.

GTA 6 News

Since the formal announcement in February 2022, there hasn't been any official GTA 6 news, but that's typical Rockstar Games. The developer has been rather silent about the much awaited sequel, save from the enormous leak, which you can read about here, and the reactions to it.
